I’m Natalie. I’m a journalism student at Drake University and a writer! I’ve written about everything from dream interpretation to professional cuddling to sex education on TikTok. Fun stuff! Check out my portfolio for more.
I’m currently an editor at College Magazine, an online publication written by student journalists from campuses across the nation. I oversee a team of four writers, guiding them through the reporting, writing, and editing process. I also write biweekly articles for the magazine. Communicating and collaborating with fellow student journalists is one of my favorite things in the world!
In addition to working at College Magazine, I’m a contributing writer for Drake’s award-winning, student-run publication, Drake Mag. I also tutor for Drake’s Writing Workshop, where I lead sessions with students of all years and majors and give feedback on their academic essays and reports. I work in Crawford Residence Hall as a desk receptionist as well. My responsibilities there include assisting residents with questions and concerns, sorting lots of mail and packages, and keeping everything nice and organized behind the desk.
I was born and raised in Webster Groves, a suburb of St. Louis, MO. I attended Webster Groves High School and loved every English and writing-related class I took there. I decided then that I wanted to be a writer of some kind when I grew up. So, here I am chasing that dream!
Outside of my classes at WGHS, I spent a lot of time with my second passion, which is playing music. I played clarinet in the marching and concert bands and even joined the Tri-M Music Honor Society. I also played guitar as a part of School of Rock. Performing in front of big audiences was terrifying, but it was also a blast. Today, I still love to play guitar and write songs even as a School of Rock graduate.
